We’ve been sending clothes to our grandson during lockdown as obviously his parents haven’t been able to get out to the shops and he’s growing out of everything.
We’d now like to send some toys but not being very knowledgeable about what sort of thing he’s ready for in terms of development, or what would really engage him, I’d be very grateful for some suggestions or recommendations from those of you who have experience.

The boys I know enjoyed most of that sort of stuff - rockers, shape sorters, that sort of thing ...
I was going to suggest shape sorters or stackers too, the wooden ones are lovely.
musical instruments - is he sitting?
Any wooden blocks, shape sorting blocks, soft balls. Any books that have different textures, telephone, bath books, wooden cars and trains. My grandkids got a lot of use out of a wagon with a handle full of wooden alaphabet blocks that they could stand up with and push when they started walking. Books of animals or cars that make noise. Plastic keys
Saucepans, wooden spoons, cardboard boxes.

Thanks for all your suggestions, very helpful.
Yes he’s well sitting up, has been for a month or more now, he’s a strong chap. His other grandparents gave him a lovely wooden musical instrument set for Christmas which he enjoys. We gave him a push along trolley thing with wooden bricks for when he’s trying to walk.
Ummm, they have all those in their house and he does love sitting in the cardboard box. We want to send something that he doesn’t have and which will stimulate him and keep his attention.
I think a shape sorter or some kind of activity do dah is a good idea.
Many thanks.
Amazon have a wooden animal one

Calmak, do you mean a shape sorter?
I’ve been browsing and come across a wooden shape sorting Noah’s ark which I think is great. It’s all sustainable wood and very ethically produced, which is important.
