Please don't take this the wrong way but personaly I believe they're a poor excuse for not spending time with a child.

A good childrens book, a box of crayons and some paper are cheaper and would make for a fun afternoon :)

I bought my daughter a new model of v-tech computer every xmas and it helped her greatly, you can do allsorts of things on them, and i think it helped her to find away around a PC easier as well, she is a total whizz at it now. So personally i think it is a good idea.

I asked the question for answers on the computer not on parenting techincs ie fatboy.

Thank for the other answer that i what i wanted to hear, i think they look good and think they can help your child with learning.
