Can anyone identify the problem with this foot? No smell, pain, itching, throbbing or hot spots but it is getting worse.

It seems to spread by isolated red spots appearing on a healthy part of skin then developing in to what you see in the photo. You can see two red spots - they are not raised or itchy.

and who might the expert be?

hc...sorry about that unhelpful and pointed remark by Asquith, but this condition of drying and peeling of the foot is quite common in diabetics being due to a peripheral neuropathy( nerves damaged and particularly those to the glands that supply oil and moisture.
The skin becomes dry and peels. Do not remove the dead skin.
Soak your feet in warm water daily...dry well and put some petroleum jelly on the area. Do not use creams and particularly between the toes.

No big deal......it will settle.
LOL

Thanks muchly, sqad. My wife was baffled because her diabetic nurse had no clue as to what is was when she had her routine diabetes check up.

Will get busy with the vaseline pronto
No pic here either lol but only person can tell you is your GP get an appointment you may get one later if you call them now.
Get a Doc to have a look at it
If " the diabetic nurse" has no idea. Maybe gp is a good suggestion .

We'll try the petroleum jelly for a week or so and will then go the GP if there is no improvement or it worsens.

Thanks for the help, all
Have a Google of nummular dermatitis, looks very similar.

Just thought I'd post an update.

The bathing/vaseline certainly helped with the very dry skin but the rash and redness spread and is getting worse. GP reckons it's athletes foot so hopefully the appropriate creams and sprays will cure it.

Thanks for all your help.
Thanks for the update.
