Up till a couple of weeks ago my little girl was really easy going. However, since she realised she can take me for a walk with me holding her hand, she turns into a devil when I try to let go. Omg, how do I deal with this? My back is killing me! If I'm fed up, I ignore her protest, but she will cry hard, if only for a little while. Otherwise I do try to distract her with something else. I try not to give in to the tantrums. Am I doing the right thing?

Do not give in. You are doing the right thing.
Chrissa is right - stand your ground, she has discovered something wonderful and is proud of it.

Have she got a little dolls buggy or similar, that could take the pressure off you and your back.
Why do you let go of her hand? She's only little, she probably likes the feeling of security it gives her (she will get to an age where she doesn't want to hold your hand, so you should enjoy it while it lasts). If you aren't going to hold her hand you need to get a wrist strap or reins to keep her safe.
I agree with Sher, get yourself some reigns. I have used them on both my kids and they are brilliant.

I agree with reins and wrist straps outdoors, I was only suggesting a buggy etc for in the house - just to be clear.
I always take a pushchair too, any playing up and they are in the pushchair smartish. This usually keeps them well behaved.
