Not sure hookie, but possibly by checking out the Land Registry or Mortgage company if it has a mortgage?
You can download the information you need for 3 from the Land Registry.

http://www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/

This will show you who is registered as owning the property, and mortages, charges (secured loans and so on) and third party interests.

If you are named on the title deed the property cannot be sold without your permission - unless a court order is granted.
If your name is no longer on the deeds you must have signed a paper allowing this - it can't be done without your knowledge - unless someone forges your signature of course.
dzug - that is not true at all. I have downloaded my immediate neighbour's because of a dispute.

I have also downloaded the details of a property that I was interested in buying.

Anybody can do it on any property for a fee of 3.
Yes Ethel is right - I have downloaded details of several properties for various reasons. It also will tell you what the house was bought for and who the mortgage is with,if any.
I don't think dzug was saying Ethel was wrong, but responding to the original Q. IE your name can't be taken off the deeds unless you agree to it
