He has only just got on his feet at all, and now walks stiff legged, swinging his legs to the side, he bum shuffled till recently and does crawl a bit so he can bend his knees okay, and can pull himself up the furniture, I am shocked that a medical person has not picked up on this with all the checks babies have nowadays, and wonder if his hips are the problem, his Mum and Dad are first time parents and don't seem concerned, do you think I should talk to them about it or mind my own business? he is my nieces child.

\\\\\I should talk to them about it or mind my own business? he is my nieces child.\\\ This should not be the case at 26 months and i agree with you that a hip disorder may well be on the cards. He should be seen by a Pediatrician.

This could be anything and certainly does not sound like nothing.

Once you do decide to do something the correct route is GP consult and then Paed consult.

Thanks, I hoped you would say that, I will have a word with them as soon as I can.
nowadays children get a 2year check by health visitors was nothing picked up then? I would definitely mention it
I'm amazed that his parents aren't concerned.

Thanks for all your replies, as I said I am shocked that nothing has been picked up before this, if he had been taken to Mums and tots or something like that I think something would have been said, but his Mum and Dad have not taken him anywhere to mix with other kids, and they are not very sociable themselves and there is only one Grandparent (a Grandpa)
