Vacuum cleaner not picking up dust, animal hairs etc. from carpets not raising the pile either, the suction is OK on vinyl flooring and when using the hose and attachments. The 'beater bar with brushes' is rotating seemingly normally and the bag is empty. Also not making the 'usual' noise, don't think there's a blockage either. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Has this happened gradually? Perhaps the beater bar brushes have worn down so that they don't actually touch the carpet properly?
Happened to my Dyson recently -bought and fitted a new "brush roll" and performance is now like new.

Thanks for that, I rather suspected it, will have a scout round for a replacement beater bar.
I used these people for the Dyson part, very good service and GENUINE part, post free. Just make sure that the part will fit your model before ordering!
