Our first grandchild is being Christened in May. We have no idea what to buy as a gift. Any suggestions please?

There are the usual sort of silver gifts I suppose. What about laying down some wine or port to mature on his 21st birthday? I'm sure a really good vintner would be able to advise, similarly there are some excellent wine buffs here on AB who might have some ideas.

I am a gran too and for christening paid for the cake (which was 3 figures) as when I asked my daughter what to get she asked for contribution so paid all.

I gave my grandchildren newspapers from the day they were born. They come in a lovely tube with the child's name and d.o.b. done in gold or silver. Lovely to keep and look at in the future.
