Household Flooring

What floorings do you have through your house and how happy are you with your choice?
If you had the option would you have something different with the benefit of hindsight?
I'm having to make some decisions and opinions are appreciated.

I haven't changed anything but the kitchen in my place, so it is the only room no longer carpeted ! Ideally it, bathroom, and maybe hall would benefit from good quality vinyl flooring. Whether one has polished floorboards/rug or carpeting elsewhere is a matter of personal choice
I have a carpet in the living room and hall/stairs/landing.
If I had my way I'd only have carpet on the stairs and landing. The floorboards are in great condition and I'd rather have them sanded. Carpets get so filthy!
I have black slate in the kitchen/utility/cloakroom. It's nice but shows up every crumb that's dropped.

Carpet everywhere except kitchen/bathroom areas, conservatory and study.
No way would I have any kind of hard flooring in any areas where is wasn't necessary for hygien or practical purposes. I don't believe it's easier to care for, in fact I believe it takes more effort and time. I also don't like rugs, I like plain and simple, faff free, so I can whip the Hoover round.
Doesn't matter how nice/trendy/artistic hard floors look, I think they're cold and unwelcoming, and take more effort to keep looking nice.

oak plank floors and rugs in hall living room and dining room, tile in kitchen and loo, bathroom, carpet in bedrooms. I love the oak and tiles. Biggest mistake I made was recarpeting the spare room with cream carpet. Even though it gets little use it shows every mark and has a black line around the wainscotting. Would oak floor and rug the bedrooms if I could afford it.
