my friend has a new boyfriend and me and my boyfriend went out with them on a double date. my friend is really keen to make it a regular thing but my boyfriend does not like her new boyfriend at all!! What do i do? My boyfriend doesn't think he's horrible or anything, he just did not click with him at all, has nothing in common, nothing to talk about and just finds it hard to be around him as they do not even find the same jokes funny....I've asked him to try and do it for me but its been twice now and he said he just cannot take anymore pretending to be having a good time....help!

You don't double date if you want to keep your boyfriend.
I hate double-dating! Don't you remember what it was like to be single when you were left out of all those 'couples' nights out?

In answer to your question though, I'd come clean to your friend. So long as you're diplomatic and just say that he didn't click with her boyfriend, it won't be an issue. Tell your boyfriend you're going to do it though. If he doesn't like it, then tell him that he's either got to make the effort or tell your friend himself!! I bet if you kept socialising with your friend and her boyfriend your man would soon feel left out and finally make the effort anyway.
It is difficult, but the only experience of this I had worked really well. Me and my friend introduced our bfs at a work do, didn't say one word to each other and weren't keen at all. A few meetings later they were best mates and the four of us were inseperable (until they got divorced and we split up!!) and they carried on being friend for years. It can work out, but doesn't mean it would for you though!!
I reckon your friend's new boyfriend was aware that he and your bf didnt click and will have told your friend this so I dont think you have a problem really
my best friend and i had the same sort of problem, my new boyfriend and her fiance didnt really click, but me and my best friend just left them too it, didnt put them together alot and they did have a few run ins with each other, which we just ignored.

a year later they now actually enjoy each others company and my boyfriend is a usher at there wedding on saturday!

My advice would be too leave them too it and dont let you and your friend get caught up in it.

Thanks everyone, hadn't thought that maybe her boyfriend feels the same...she still keeps asking to go out again though! Think I will just leave it a while then try again in a few weeks when my boyf has forgotten how much he doesn't like him! If its still just as bad then I will just tell her. Thanks people!
