Just doing my last VAT Return now that my husband has died. In the file there is a Monthly VAT Certificate in the sum of £112.86 for period ending Oct 2010.
What is this?
I am making a small reclaim so will this affect this?

Sounds like a quarterly VAT bill. Did he run a company?

Yes we ran our own business. It is not a bill but an offical looking Certificate which says "Do Not Destroy".
Hi Chrissa, if it is green with numbered boxes then it definitely is a VAT return. It is quite possible that you may pay VAT one quarter and reclaim the next if you are running a small business. As long as you can confirm that the £112.86 was actually paid to HMRC then there is nothing to worry about.

No, it's not my VAT Return, I've filled enough of those in over the years. I've never seen this sort of Certificate before.
