but also have 12k student loan 2 pay off!!!!!!!! :(

You will be paying your student loan off for a long time, i'm afraid, but in that respect, you are no different to many other students and workers alike.  Your financial circumstances sound quite rosy though, as ansteyg says, though i suppose it depends on the amount of money you are bringing home, future job prospects, and wheather or not you are planning to buy a house etc. as possibly implied by your mortgage question.

I recommend that you discuss the issue with your girlfriend and explain that you are not particularly in a position to be bled dry.

Why not get your overdraft tied into your loan - loan repayments will be lower than overdraft charges. Speak to your bank for some advice, but be aware, they are in the business of making money out of you, so avaoid their temptations of a bigger loan for a holiday / car etc.
I woud imagine that you have a graduate bank account, where the overdraft is interest free up to a certain limit?  Students eh, andy!
You got it good by the sounds of it. I finished uni last year and i have an overdraft of 2500 and credit card bills (another 2500) to pay. My wages only just cover all the costs every month with NO money for luxuries! (+ the 12000 student loan). I'm all depressed now just thinking about it...drat!
