The reference to "pre-registration days" is confusing and has no meaning for you, just forget it. At the time of registration of your property all previous documentation was destroyed and a Land Certificate from HM Land Registry replaced it. It is this certificate which your lender has. However, last year Land Certificates were done away with, and the Land Certificate (and any other documentation) is now totally worthless and of now of absolutely no interest to you. All property is now held simply by the Entry on the Land Register. To see your Entry click this link and follow the instructions

http://www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/servlet/TitleSearchServlet

Don't worry about the title number, it works perfectly well with just the address and postcode. It will cost you 2 to see the Register and a further 2 to see your plan. You are allowed to print off a copy of each to keep.

There is no reason why the old title deeds would have been destroyed on registration. They may have ceased to have any significance in proving who owned the property, but they would still have had potential historical and curiosity interest.
