My Dad is a self employed driving instructor, with the current climate he is having problems making ends meet. he needs an operation on his leg which he keeps putting off as if he goes ahead with it he will be out of work for at least10 months. he will not be able to manage financially. he is not a home owner and lives in a rented flat with no fixed address so the banks will not help him in any way. Im sure he is liable for some kind of help but he is not looking properly. im going to call the job Centre as they may be able to help and give me some more infomation. He is struggling to pay his car for his instructing and his rent. Does anyone have any infomation on which way i can help him on this??? Thanks!

I think you need to call your local Citizens' Advice Bureau - they have loads of experience with this typoe of enquiry, and will be able to advise your dad of any benefits to which he is entitled while he is off work.
