Mistaken payment of invoice to my business account

I was running a small business which I sold to a larger player a few years ago. Since then I have emptied the business bank account. Resigned as a director and wound up the business.

It now seems that the company that took over from me continued to send some overseas customers invoices with my businesses bank details on them. This resulted in a couple of grand being paid into the business account. Since that bank account is now closed and I am no longer a director of the business, indeed the bank account got closed automatically when the business was wound up.

The business I sold to is now asking me personally to repay them. Since they muscled me into a position where I had to sell to them anyway I am not concerned about the morality of the case, they got more than ten times over the odds from me already on that. Can I just keep the money?
