I had an operation yesterday to repair a large hole in my septum, no drug abuse I am afraid.
They have put a synthetic button inside my nose to repair the hole. ABSOLUTE AGONY.
Has anyone ever had this done or know of someone, when will the pain go away, it feels like a dustbin lid.

NSAIDS Squad ??????
at least I can cheer you up. i seem to have offended others y-day on a post which I didn't intend to do. But now it's too late to say sorry.

Tho I have tried it's not workign v well. lol xx
Ibuprofen......400mgms.

That is one of them that should suit the occasion.
sasha......fret not! ......it is IMPOSSIBLE to partake in AB without upsetting someone.
thanks squad I guess it's just life isn't it. like texting someone and then panicing coz you think thay have read it wrong.

Oh maybe paracetamol and codine might help with the pain. Tho I find these quite strong so best to eat lots if you take them I find. xx
Voltarol is a good nsaid and you don't need a prescription now to get them. You can take painkillers with them too. It does sound sore.
Non Steroidal Anti Inflamatory Drug just in case you were wondering.....
I had a septoplasty operation almost 18 months ago,it was a similar operation to yours....I still have bleeding, scabbing and pain all this time later.
Did the hospital give you a nasal douche to rinse the area with boiled salty water? If not it would be a good idea to buy one from the chemist.
daffy...a septoplasty is realigning a displaced, but normal nasal septum and so should not be painful post op.

chrisda has had something quite different....a type of Gromit or button placed into a hole in the nasal septum to try and encourage it to heal.

Painful and a different "ball game" to a septoplasty.
My septum was very badly deviated sqad, whether it should be painful post-op is irrelevant really as it was and still is.I managed to collapse the septum almost immediately after discharge from hospital by sneezing and tearing a hole in it which I refuse to have fixed.
daffy.....very wise.
