Multiply the figure by a decimal, equivalent to the percentage you are trying to find.

For example, to find 75% of 200, you would type into your calculator 0.75 X 200, which gives 150.

If you find it hard to work out the decimal, an easier (but slightly longer) way of doing it is to divide the original number by 100 to find one percent, then multiply by the number of percent you're trying to find.

For example, to find 63% of 124; do 124/100, which is 1.24 (one percent). Then multiply 1.24 by 63, which gives 78.12.

Hope that helps?
You can do it easily in the google search box.

To find 18% of 173 type in the box

173*18%

MrsY - you do use a convoluted method.

In your examples, just do

200 x 75% (or in the search box 200*75%)

and

124 x 63% (or in google 124*63%)

Many thanks everyone, that certainly helps.

The reason I was using a 'convoluted' method is that not all calculators have a percentage button. My method does not require that button.
If you need to find out what the % is of one number to another, eg what is 45 the % of 150, then divide the littlest number by the biggest and times by 100.

45 150 = 0.3 x 100 = 30%
