I passed my full UK practical test in Nov 2005. In August 2007 i received 3 points for a SP50 and 3 points for using my mobile phone so accumulated 6 points in one go and as a result my license was revoked in Nov 2007( 3 months from being out of probationary period.)

Its now Oct 2008 and I have my practical test again tomorrow, Im just wondering if i passed..then will my lisence say i have been driving for the full 3 years(since i first passed my test) or will it read as if i have just passed?!?!

Many thanks thought i found the answer on the net but cant find it now!

Nightmare, so they totally disregard the previous experience i have? not so good,
There are some that might say that your previous wasn't so good - so best as a complete restart.
would you rather your old licence back with 6 points on it to declare? i doubt an insurer will turn a blind eye to points for using a mobile

youre starting again, clean slate and as such youll revert to being a newly qualified driver.
Not so, redcrx.

The convictions must still be declared if they occured within the time limit asked for by insurers (usually 5 years). They will almost certainly appear on the new licence but if they do not they must still be declared. The slate is not "wiped clean" as you suggest.

They also remain active for "totting" purposes. Six more points for kezman before August 2010 and he/she will be liable to a "totting up" disqualification.
aha thanks new judge. Id always heard people say that you started again if you lost licence in that way. tbh the way you explain it is is more of a deterant hopefully. :)
Yes, redcrx, the revocation imposed as a result of gaining six points within two years of passing your first test is undertaken by the DVLA and is totally separate to any other matter.

It is not like receiving a "totting" ban (12 points in three years). In that case the points do revert to zero when the ban is imposed.
And I should add that, although the driver then has no points he still has the convictions and they must be declared.

"there are some that may say your last driving record wasnt too great" haha perhaps so.

I know the points are still there as they are on my new provisional, so if the points are still there with the relevant date then surely that period is still usable as "time spent driving"

For example my NCD of one year is still valid as it has been less than a year since i canx the insurance, I think a quick call to the dvla is in order to resolve. Thanx everyone for their input however.

I would think you should also inform your driver trainer - he may need to get a different/higher insurance when you use his car
