Will potential employers check for a police caution?

I was recently arrested and recieved a police caution for theft. When I apply for jobs will they do checks for this? It's just basic employment, mainly shop work not working with kids or anything like that, but I'm worried that they will check my record, what with their being cash handling involved.

They could do an ordinary CRB check - working with children and vulnerables requires an enhanced CRB disclosure.

A standard crb check will show recent cautions. Don't forget you only got a caution because you admitted the offence, if you hadn't you have been prosecuted in court.
In my experience, most small employers won't do a CRB check, cash handling or not.

Large ones probably will, depends on who you are thinking of applying to really. It should say in the job description whether they require a CRB check or not.
Only certain occupations are allowed to get a CRB check on you. Have a google and you should be able to find out which ones. I doubt that shop work is on the list.

However, if they ask you if you have any unspent convictions, it is an offence not to disclose them.
a caution is not a conviction therefore you dont have to declare it and they wont find it out by doing a CRB check for the same reason. make sure it doesnt happen again tho.
it is possible but ususally they don't on these kind of jobs, it is generally the high paying jobs that ask for CRB checks. I suggest that you never steal again. No! Cautions are now spent under the ROA 1974 and as such would not have to be disclosed if asked about for this type of work.
