my wife and i are going to divorce after 20 years of marriage, no-one is particularly to blame, we've just grown apart over the last few years. when we bought our house i put all the deposit down for the house which amounted to approx. 40% of the asking price. when we decide who will get what, should i be entitled to get a bigger percentage of the proceeds or will it just be a 50/50 split.

Will be 50/50 unles one of you is more to blame than the other ie one of you had an affair, then they will get more. When did you buy the house? If you're that bothered about your wife having 50% of the house you shouldn't have married as everything gets split 50/50, why would you want her to have less anyway? And football's right, please turn off the caps lock!
sorry for the break down of your relationship, i hope this all works out for you sorry for the other response - you may well get more the 50% if you put a lot more into the investment than your wife, though bills after you bought the house will be considered or the fact that she stayed at home to look after children while you worked etc.
Are you apologising for my post?? IF so i didn't mean to cuase any offence, sorry if there's any taken david. It's a sore subject for me as i'm going through this with my parents and my dad is doing everything he can to wriggle out of giving my mum anything. Anyway sorry if it came across like that, generally it is 50/50 but undercovers is right - there may be other factors involved, probably best to speak to a solicitor...
