We import from China and now feel that we need a presence there ie an office where we can employ people to look after our interests etc. Does anyone know where we can get info on any laws or permissions we need. I have googled this but have not come up with any real answers only get mainly selling. Also went onto Chinese Embassy site in Uk and their contact us is not working! So I can't! Any ideas anyone please.

Maybe your local Business Link has an export advisor who should have links to the best contacts. They are funded through UKTI (UK Trade and Industry) who may also be worth contacting, a quick google search should get you some numbers
Try http://www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk (although the website is currently down until Monday) and type in your postcode to find your nearest UKTI reps. They will be able to help you via the British Embassies in China.
Try connexions thru Hong Kong; that's where the hub is

Thank you all for your advice and we are acting upon it. Mirella we want to open an office and employ a couple of people to source products and deal with all our enquiries from England. We would also want to open a local bank account. Also we would need to know what Chinese laws are on foreign investment and trade. So any help on these would be gratefully received. Thanks
