They can go from village to village and stay for a hour at each location, it will even help some villages that dont have a post office now, it makes complete sense to me.

Any thoughts

Good idea if we can prevent criminals from stealing the cash boxes.
Our post office has closed and we live in the middle of nowhere. Our nearest post office now is 15 miles away at the nearest town. These mobiles ones are a great idea but I wouldn't like to think that I was in charge of one, what with all the muggings, murders etc that seem to go on nowadays. In a rural area like ours they will become an easy target.
They would be as safe as the Well Fargo stage was.

I am sure there would be strict security measures in place and we are not talking about a shodding milk float here more like security van with someone inside maybe.

I think we have to see more of the positives and less of the negatives, with anything like that if the security is put in place, people will be more interested in easier targets, if they unload money and of course the post twice a day or more theres less of a temptation.

Maybe stop off points for the van should be chosen by the local police as they know lay of the land so to speak?
It's not that ban an idea - maybe Group 4 could run it

Or maybe not
We won't be able to have mobile Post Offices because Uncle Gordon and his family won't trust us not to knock over the poor unfortunate driver and nick all the takings, because we're all too stupid to be given any responsibility for our own lives and anyway, Nanny knows best, and she says we can't.

Hmmm, there are many reasons why you couldnt have mobile post offices.
1. where would these be based? people would be going up to hot dog stands in confusion.
2. where would they store all the birthday cards and envelopes? it would be mayhem on the streets with women gathering round looking which one to buy.
3. where would they get the power to the machine? people will want an actual lotto ticket, not one that says they will put it on later.
I could go on all night, but i had better not...
Ven, of corse, ver's ve elf 'n' safetee issews..........
Your right Kim. Also who would watch her cart when she wants the loo? And would she be able to smoke?
And where would she keep her anti-mugger cudgel and her panic alarm? In a van that size, there'd be tripping hazards all over the place, let alone the slippage problem should she drop that little damp yellow stamp licky thingy on the floor. Dear God, it doesn't bear thinking about. Oh, the humanity.....
As long as they park outside my front door.
There's nothing to prevent the private sector proposes to operate such a scheme.
In areas where the PO is proposing to exterminate the local rural PO, it has to consult with all groups to find a local alternative solution to provide some access to a service - it is not just being allowed to shut all facilities willy-nilly.
The people to raise this good idea would be ********* - the independent (of the PO) group that is consultee in the overall process.

Interesting that willy-nilly is allowed, but not the name of the umbrella organisation for PO Users. The joys of a blunt instrument that manages the internet.
The name of the organisation is post watch. But join the 2 words together.
