Now that Northern Rock has been brought into public ownership, is it right that the company should still be seen to sponsor a Premiership football club?

Probably not, but they have signed a contract. I suspec that they will have to pay up to get out of it so why not honour the contract.

It just adds to the farce at Newcastle Utd this season.

As a Sunderland fan I don't see anything wrong with that.

Kevin Keegan is a clown.
as a scoucer, and red hot liverpudlian, i remember some wonderful games keegan played, if he's reading this i bet he'll be upset that you think he is a clown.
must agree with you newcastle are pretty rubbish at the moment.
incidently, must ask, where are newcastle at the moment. and what position are sunderland ?
i just wondered !
No, but then it won't be a problem soon - as they will be sponsoring the Championship football club.
Northern Rock will still be looking for savers, even though they'll probably be trying to offload the borrowers to pay off the government loan, so there might be some justification for still advertising their services in the future.

Premium Bonds might be a comparison, these get advertised on TV and are government owned as far as I'm aware.
VICTIMS - we are only apint behind them -but that's not the point.

Keegan has always appealed to the lowset common denominator. He's the most insincere person.

"Liverpool are the club I've always wanted to play for."
"Hamburg are the only club I would have left Liverpool for"
"Newcastle are the only club I woulkd have come back for"
"Newcastle are the only club I'd manage"
"I've always had an affinity with Fulham"
"Manchester City have always had a place in my heart"

He is an absolute clown. I think his parents were circus performers.
