Im not sure exactly how tax is calculated however I bought some furniture in Thailand and had it shipped to the UK Via Uniserve.

The charges were as follows
Customs entry 38.50
UK Transport 200.00
Terminal handling 111.43
Documentation 15.00
Presentation 15.00
Security fee 3.50
I then had to pay about 200.00 VAT

All in all my bargin from Thailand became quite expensive. Having said that I love it and dont regret buying it. Its so unique and no one else has one.

hope this is useful
