lost cheque

I deposited a cheque at Natwest using their envelopes, the ones you drop inside a box in one of their branches...anyway, that was 2 weeks ago and the cheque still hasn't gone in. Unfortunately I didnt keep the receipt.
Does this mean that the cheque is untraceable and I have lost the money?

You should be able to get the person who sent you the cheque to cancel it and send a new one.
