Hi there just a quick question. I want to open up a current account and have hear that there are current accounts out there that offer good interest rates. I looked into the Lloyds one and you have to deposit at least 1,000 per month. Anyone know of any others that don't require a minimum monthly amount?

You are not going to get a high interest current account without a minimum monthly deposit.

Cahoot offer 3.5% and Intelligent Finance 3% without a minimum deposit. I am not aware of anything better.

Cheers Ethel - reckon I'll have to stick with a deposit account with easy access.

Have you thought about a current account with e-savings? I've got a Nationwide Flexaccount, and transfer most of the balance from my current account into an e-savings account which currently pays 5.8% interest. When you need money to cover a cheque, for example, you can just transfer money back from the e savings to the current account. Transfers are done on-line very easily and happen instantly. It works brilliantly for me. There's no minimum deposit required.
You best bet will be to open up any old current account and at the same time opt for an ING DIRECT online savers account. It is currently 5.4 percent with no tie ins or minum deposits.

You can then transfer or pay money in on line in a matter of seconds, thus maximising your monthly interest.

It really is that simple.
