Hi, I have been on SSP for the last 4 weeks due to Multiple Sclerosis, i have applied for disability allowance but am in the process of my 3rd appeal as i have been turned down.
I am also a single parent to a 2 year old, but i have been told i am entitled to nothing more than my SSP allowance of 72 per week.
This does not cover my monthly household bills like telephone, gas and electricity etc let alone my mortgage.
Can anyone advise?
Thank you

Is that the only income you have? No child benefit, maintenance from child's father, sick pay from employer?

Do you have savings?

Hi, thank you for replying, i do get child benefit also of 71 per month, but nothing atall from my childs father although child maintenance are aware of this, also i have no savings and i am living day to day on a credit card... i hope this doesn't sound like i am just playing the "hard done by" act, it is the way things are for me at the moment.
I suggest you go to your Citizens' Advice Bureau for advice as to what you can claim.

Also phone Jobcentre Plus who deal with benefits claims for advice - the number is free:

0800 055 6688

thats the only income i have also SSP of 71.05
per week. I have had one application for DLA turned down
I get no other money from my employer at all although
my position is still open for me to return when I am better
