Hi all, can anybody with more experience than me please give their opinion of these compression test results ?. (diagram here)

The car is a 96 omega 2.5 V6 - bought spares/repair from ebay, i drove from birmingham to liverpool and it ran a bit rough. I found the coil pack to be faulty (running on 5 cylinders only - no. 5 dead. currently waiting for new one). My question is will this be the main cause of the problem or do the compression results indicate further problems ?.

Sorry its long winded but hopefully you can get what im trying to say / ask !

Thanks in advance.

Number two is a bit low but not abnormally so for a ten year old car, and the others are all pretty healthy, so it would seem that you have answered your own question in that yes, with a faulty coil pack, it would run rough!

hmm there isnt alot of difference as previously stated no.2 is a little low but that could be valve sets or a tight tappet or just bad ring spacing or plain old wear and tear nothing to worry about the problem im sure is elsewhere! i wouldnt run it on 5 pots though as you may knacker no 5 by having all that fuel going into the clyinder and not being burnt also it will do in your cat (if fitted) as it tries to scrub the exhuast

Many thanks mr rusty &eggobako - these were the type of answers i was hoping for, i was worried it could have indicated the head gasket or rings were shot or something.

I wont be running it until my new coil arrives but at least now i know its worth cracking on with - Thanks again.
