Receiving payments via PayPal for items on eBay

I have a PayPal account which I use for buying items.

However, when I sell items, I usually ask for cash or cheque. The reason I do this is because I'm sure that I lost money about 6 years ago when I accepted some payments via PayPal.

Anyway, I'm re-thinking my mindset on accepting PayPal payments, so I'd apprecaite answers to the following, please :

1. Would I lose money by accepting a payment via PayPal?

2. Can I transfer money from my PayPal account into my "normal" bank account?

3. If the answer to "2" is "no", how do I "get my hands on the money"?

Hi Surrey Guy, can't really answer your question but I would never use paypal because if you're selling an item don't they take x percent of the selling price?

Give me good old cash, cheque or postal order any day lol

That's what I thought!
My mate has sold some items for 300+ and paypal had a ridiculous amount in charges. Another point is the fact that I have had to change my ebay password 3 times in 3 weeks as they thought my account was insecure!!

All of the advocates of paypal are probably the same people who pay grossly over the odds for items i.e. peep show box set 18.00 brand new from HMV. Donuts bidding 23 + p&p lol.

Thanks :o)
yes paypal takes a percentage (think bout 2 -5%) out of any money that goes in and takes another percentage if you request that money to be transferred to your bank account so i reccommend you leave the money in if it is a small amount

Thanks
I wont use Paypal anymore as I was badly ripped off. I sold something for 100 on Ebay and received the money through Paypal. I had proof of posting for the goods but was concerned that the buyer didn't leave feedback and didnt reply to an email asking if she'd received it OK. Four months after the transaction I had a clear out and binned the proof of posting. Six months after the transaction Paypal took the 100 back and said that the buyers credit card had been misused (not stolen, mind, just misused) AND she hadn't received the item. I had no redress and lost the money and the item. It stinks.
