Money to the USA

I am going to the USA and need to give a company a cheque. I obviously do not have a bank account in the usa, so I was wondering. Can i go into a bank (hsbc) and get a cheque made out in US dollars

Yes you can but it will be expensive. A �10 to �20 flat fee is normal.
