Gas & Eletricity price increase

I am with npower for both and have had a letter stating that the price is to increase from October 1st. However, it does not actually tell me that it will be going up by, for example, 10% - it gives some complex calculation regarding kWh per year etc etc. Does anyone know how much they will be raising their price as a percentage increase?
Secondly, I obviously now want to shop around but I assume there is no point looking at sites such as uswitch until after 1st Oct. Are all the other companies putting up thier prices at the same time?
