points on licence

I have reached 12 points on my licence, but over 3 and 1/2 years will this mean i will automaticaly be disqualifyed???? ive heard that if you only get 3 points at a time, you have to reach 12 points in under 3 years to be band, any help plz.

If you incur 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years you will be liable to be disqualified under the �totting-up� system.

I believe that points only count on your licence for three years, although they can't be taken off until four years. So you should be ok.
