Anybody have any idea how many Charites closed down/dissolved last year and 2 years ago. I've tried the Charites Commission but they don't have the info and to get it I have to right them a leter and I don't have the time.

They certainly have the info that you require because their website talks about the Register of Charities database, and amongst the data held under the History appears to be the date of registration and any date when a charity was removed from the Register. The problem is that they won't let any old bod just download the file, from which you could almost certainly get what you want. According to their information access policy, the purpose for which you want the data is probably an acceptable reason for granting you access - assuming you are doing some kind of research project and there isn't a commercial angle. Unfortunately you have to write to explain this - sorry I can't see another way. Maybe someone else knows different.
