Not sure about Pawn Shops but there are quite a few places that do this. Lots of them are those cut price jeweller type places.

They do charge an arm and a leg though, cashing 50 they charge about a fiver. And you some places will keep hold of the cheque for upto a month before cashing it, you specify the date you want it to go through.

Just googled 'cheque cashing' and lots of links came up, including Cash Converters, do you have one of these nearby?

Thanks! I do actually have a local branch cash Converters, so I will ask them!
any bureau de change will cash a cheque for you - back in the day we used to do it every friday night whether we were being paid or not and go clubbing - you have to have your cheque book with you and not just the cheque as they mark the back of the book so they know when you have done it.
