still Cypriot pounds.

as for Euros - it depends on where you are going.
Canaries, you're better off taking Sterling/Sterling cheques and changing them there.

If you've got a Nationwide account, they won't charge you for using cash machines abroad I believe, although you'll still get the crappy exchange rates you get in UK banks.

sorry dont think i made my question clear!....... i always use debit card for getting euros, but i also (usually|)always have some by me cos i go abroad alot. Theres a group of us going on this holiday and i said id sort some out so that we all have some to take with us, thought it would be quicker to ask on here if someone has looked around for best deal.
ah, ok.
Think you'll find most banks etc are much of a muchness in that department.
Post office do commission free I think.
This was asked on here before and I think the best deal mentioned was the Bureau de Change in Marks and Spencer!
Post Office is probably the easiest - no commission as said and a reasonable tourist exchange rate. Any Post Office will get them for you at 3-4 days notice, the larger ones have them in stock.
M&S are usually slightly better but only larger branches have a BdeC so it's not worth a special journey.
Some of the cheque cashing shops have gone into the holiday currency market and are offering good deals - if the right one is near you it may be best of all.

Despite what ugly bob says, the Nationwide card exchange rate will be a whole lot (4 or 5%) better than any of the above.
