Hello

I recently rented my flat to someone who didn't pay for 4 months then left owing 3000 and a council tax bill. The agency has used solicitors but the tenant does not have a forwarding address.

Can I set up a CCJ for the amount if i don't know his new address or should i pursue another option/s . Advice would be appreciated

You do need an address and you have six years to make your claim so you need to keep looking for him. As he is likely to move on again if you find him, once you have your judgement, you can petion for bankruptcy if he doesn't pay. This is serious stuff and means he can't disappear again. Worth checking with other letting agencies. You are not responsible for the council tax or other utility bills.
