Will my Natwest MAESTRO card work in many places in Thailand. If not what do you suggest?

Yes, I imagine you will be able to use it. You can withdraw cash wherever you see the cirrus symbol, and use the card for purchases wherever you see the maestro symbol.


I would, however, recommend that you take a credit card out with you too. This is more secure than carrying baht, and you invariably get a better exchange rate. I am sure that NatWest will levy a charge when you withdraw cash abroad with any card - check this out with them. Also, please let them know when you are away, and where you are going. You would not want your card to be cancelled because of a suspected fraud!

95% of Thai ATMs accept cirrus cards

You will probably be able to use the card where you see the cirus sign, however you need to think about how much Natwest will charge you for using your card abroad.


I would suggest you go to your local branch of Nationwide and discuss getting one of their debit and/or credit cards which you can use anywhere in the world free of charge.
