How do you check if the person is a Corgi registered Gas Fitter? Does anybody know how much does it cost to fix a new cooker to the main pipe.

All corgi qualified gas fitters have to carry a corgi identification card which you can request to see.

You can find local corgi fitters on the corgi website.

heres a link. Just ring up and ask how much they charge..

Assuming the gas pipe doesn't have to be re-routed, it's a pretty simple job - probably about 15 minutes!

So expect to be charged the call-out charge plus labour (probably 1 hour minimum).

Be wary if the job seems to take around 65 minutes, as, unless there are some genuine complications, it would then appear that he's trying to 'bump' the job into the next chargeable hour.

All good info provided in the previous answer - you SHOULD INSIST on seeing their Corgi card before an installer even enters your property.

I believe Corgi expect their registered installers to do this - I've yet to see it happen. Also ensure you get a completed installation certificate once the work is complete.

I paid approx. 75 recently to have a gas cooker connected. That included removing the end-cap off an existing gas pipe in the kitchen (new build house), fitting a bayonet connector and hose and providing a certificate.

my father is a gas fitter and he says that 40 quid is a fair price. larger firms will charge you more than a one man operator
I had my cooker piped into the gas a few months ago by a Small firm. It cost me 60 to have the cooker fitted AND to repair a bit of cracked gas pipe, which I thought was pretty reasonable.

My firm would charge 55 on a fixed basis do not go for an hourly rate!
