Bank Card Declined Online

I’ve gone to order something earlier and it declined my card - kept saying error. So I used joint account card. I’ve now gone to pay a bill and it’s again declined my card. There’s definitely money in the account as I’ve checked. Any ideas? It’s too late to call them. Never happened before.

are you buying outside your normal habits ?? Barclays will deny access sometims if I want to buy an expensive out of the normal product..then mail me and ask if I was responsible or not...supposed to be a security measure , but blummin' nuisance when it happens

Nope. One thing was £17 and the other was a bill for £80. Baffled tbh
Are you sure you typed in the correct numbers, including the security number?

Yep I’ve definitely typed them in right. Ok maybe it is a bank error then?
Not much use now Smow, but most card issuers have help lines open pretty late. My building society help line is open until 10pm. I keep all my card issuers phone numbers in my phone and always carry a second card. I know not everyone has more than 1 card.
Smow...there was a system error with Nationwide recently and people were complaining (on FB) that their cards were being declined and the machines weren't given out cash. Hopefully it's just a glitch...
Just thought Smow, I got a new card last month and of course the three digit security number changed. When I went online to an existing supplier, my card was the same but three digit wasn't. Had to add new card.

Joint card that was accepted was Nationwide. My personal card which is Santander keeps getting declined. Tad worried as few months ago there was fraudulent activity on my account and someone went on a spending spree(got it all back)
Did they replace the card Smow.
Nationwides blip only lasted a few hours.
Santander helpline is open 8am to 9pm.

Yes got a new card. Someone somehow went online shopping and bought laptop etc. God knows how.....
You haven't used the old card in error Smow?

No it was cut up. I used this card only yesterday.
My wife had her card cloned once, I was reluctant to cancel it, they spent less than she did.

Have you double checked the expiry date on your card? This happened to one of my friends a couple of weeks ago. She went in Tesco and did her weeks shopping and then when she went to pay her card was declined and she had no idea why. It turned out her card was one day past its expiry date and Lloyds bank hadnt sent her her new one in the post.
