Has anyone experience of using pay pal to bring money over from abroad? I've used it to send money overseas but not the other way.
Perhaps there's a better way? - the amount is under £10,000 if that makes any difference.
thank you

Hi RSVP - paypal states that you can send an amount up to the value of $10K or the equivalent from your verified paypal account. If you log into paypal it should tell you how much in sterling you can send if you click on 'see how much money you can send' button.

The other option could be to transfer it using Western Union (available at pawnbroking & cheque cashing stores on the high street - but to keep within compliance guidelines, they normally have a set amount that they can send within one transaction (normally up to £5k) Over this amount could be considered a cause for suspicion due to money laundering reporting rules under the FCA, but it is a viable and safe option never the less. I hope this helps

Peaspeculiar - many thanks - It's always a worry consigning part of one's worldly wealth to the ether - will check out all the options and maybe do two transfers with Western Union as you suggest it's safe. Stay well
