Why is �20 our highest denomination note. Everyone else has currencies in 50 and 100 values. It is so inconvenient to carry it around. Any valid reasons why we do not have higher denominations.

It isn't there are �50 notes. Bigger denomination notes help organised crime as well as creating problems in shops etc. Some shops won't even take the �50 note. There is a 500 Euro note.
There's a �50 note.
You can also get Scottish �100 notes.
Even if you've not seen a �50 note, youmust have seen the handwritten signs in shops saying they don't accept them. That's probably the reason most of us don;t like them.
I have, in my possession and 23 and a half pound note.
For those of you who like the "strange but true" answers, the highest denomination of Bank of England bank note is for �1million, but these are not in circulation,and are used for accounting purposes within the Bank of England itself.
Dom - surely you are taking the pi*s. If you go out for a night with �100 then that is only 5 �20s. Inconvenient?
