Have never heard from my MSP in 9 years - no newsletter, no update, nothing.
Do you know who your MEP is? Do you know what they do?

Nope
Nope
Not a clue. Am I helping to fund him/her? What is their purpose?
Yes. He sends me a newsletter every month.
Oooer! What did you do to merit that?
Nope and Nope. can't say that I particularly care either.
what's an MEP, some new product on the market, another useless thing that wears out after ten minutes.
What did I do to merit that? Live in his constituency, I suppose...
I know mine and don't particularly like him, just this week he voted in the European Parliament to improve air travel by creating new rights for air passengers and clarifying the responsibilities of airlines.

means nothing to me
I know who my MP is and my MSP too but haven't a Scooby as to who in the name of the wee man my MEP is - but since there are to be elections for the European Parliament soon(ish) I expect we'll find out then

Your MEP is your Member of the European Parliament - he/she is supposed to represent your interests in the European Parliament.

Gross salary € 7.956,87 per month, plus spensies.

Am curious whether anyone had ever heard from their MEP.
I got a few telegrams from mine following a few funerals in the family, I sent replies letting him know how unwelome his telegrams were, so yes, I heard from mine..creep (IMO)
How much?
about £5.5K
maybe more to £6K
Not enough to cover postage once a year then?
no, I haven a clue.
but I will look it up
Not once. A few flyers at the last election but I don't even know who won!
Yes I do know who my MEP is. And the only thing I know that he does is to cost the taxpayer about £1.8m per year to keep (his £80k salary is just the tip of the iceberg).

What I know that he does not do is to have any influence over EU policies and practices. Whatever the constitution of the EU pretends, that rancid organisation is run by unelected EU Commisioners. Examples of this species from the UK have numbered, in the past, those highly respected former Westminster politicians My Lords Kinnock and Mandleson.
Kinnock? Was at Uni with him. covers her head in shame
Kinnock at least was sincere. Mandleson, intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich, much less so.
