Just to get the percentage figure of my Muslim/ immigration threads a little nearer to the 99% figure that Andy Hughes estimated, I just had to post this story. :0)

But jesting apart, this story is an example of what our young children are being brain washed into and all under threats of racism.

Just read it on Mail Online and posted. I think it's shocking personally.
An opportunity to be given an insight into other faiths/cultures is hardly a thing to be endured.
Ridiculous, how can a child be branded as a racist because of the actions of their parents.
What is almost incredulous is that someone can rise to Headmistress level and be bereft of common sense, stated in the article - previous trips had been a success.

Why on earth she felt the reason to add such a ridiculous caveat to the letter is beyond me, children love to explore and learn new things all the time - well my Grandchildren do.
Exactly that Mamy, my daughter would have loved a trip like that but if I'd been threatened into sending her she wouldn't have been going.
love the way they say you are a liar if you send a note in

> All absences on this day will be investigated for their credibility and will only be sanctioned with a GP sick note. <

so if little tommy has the tom tits you need a sick note from your doctor

Precisely Rocky - there is a wonderful old adage 'You catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar'.

Once you put people on the back foot, you are onto a loser...suffer the children if this is an example of headship today.
Looks like the head tripped over her own pashmina in her efforts to appear PC and 'right-on'.
Hopefully most of the parents would be quite willing for their child to attend such a workshop in order to experience other cultures anyway, though I admit I would be taken back by the wording of the letter and the veiled threat.

What?????? and not to be given a choice of either attending or having a racial discrimination note attached to your child's school educational report which will remain on file throughout their school career?

The last time this sort of thing happened was in Nazi Germany.
Actually, £5.00 per child is expensive innit? How they getting there, via limousines?

Not a 'veiled threat' Boo, a 'damn right threat'
I thought if a school trip was part of the curriculum the school could only ask for 'voluntary' financial contributions.

Yes it should be subsidised by the Muslim Brotherhood. :0)
Just thinking of the costs involved too...for example, if there's 30 children per class, and using Mini Boo's school as an example, there's 60 children per year, so that's a lot of money for transport in this instance!
No child is being racist or to be branded racist. That nonsense comes from an angry parent.

If children are not to be lured into racism, they are best served by learning about other religions and cultures. No child is brainwashed by that process. They are brainwashed by those at home and those with whom the mix, who inculcate, directly or indirectly, the belief that other cultures or religions are to be disliked or despised or that there own culture and religion is superior, no matter what those happen to be.

What is bad about this case is the terms of the letter. It would be sufficient to say that non-attendance would be treated as absence, this activity being part of this school's day.
shame the mulims arent made to go on courses about being british and our culture and if they refuse we could get shot of them
Sigh.
The school seems to be mixing up race and religion too. There are many white Muslims worldwide.
