Yes. No problem.
You can buy to invest in, such as a buy to let mortgage, but not to live in immediately. You will need at least 15% deposit depending on the rent you can get. If you are coming to the Uk you usually need to spend at least 2 years in the UK and have aminimum of 3 years left on your work visa. Lots of banks need you to have permanent residency though.
