Any ideas on how to get rid of the musty smell in a waching maching. I tried doing an empty cycle with bleach in the powder container. That worked for about 30 minutes.

How did this question get on here? I started in Home and Garden. I'll transfer to there.
try limelight for washing machines or similar in the actual drum, if this doesnt work you may need to check the pump for blockage, if it isnt that then i would recommend getting someone to check it, particularly the hose. good luck
Do an empty cycle on the hottest wash your machine does. My sister-in-law called out a repair man (expensive!) for this problem, just to discover that all you need to do is occasionally do a hotter than 40 degree wash.

OK, I'll try those at the weekend. Thanks a lot.
Make sure you always leave the washing machine door open when it's not in use - that helps too.
A hot wash with a dose of Soda crystals will help.
Try using a cup or two of vinegar and backing soda.

Thanks to you all. Tried most of them but the smell lingers ... it might be me :o(

Could be a dead badger crawled up the tubes or something. I'll try the filters.

Just had another thought - check the rubber seal just inside the door.  If you gently pull it back at the bottom, you should find that's where a little pool of water gathers.  If left, this can start to smell.  Maybe that's contributing to the problem?
