Can someone help?

If a will bequests to 4 people and one of them has died, the will stipulates that the amount (£160000) shall be divided between the 3 survivors in their original proportions. How much would each receive?

As follows:

40% to A
30% to B(deceased)
20% to C
10% to D
I must be thick and I get a remainder!!

Thanks for your help.

the original proportions for A:C:D are 4:2:1 so A gets 4/7 of the total amount, B gets 2/7 of the money, and C gets 1/7 of the money
I've been trying to work it out with Excel formulae and I can't get it either, so thanks, bibble!
the only reservation i have is that with puzzles like this one usually ends up with round numbers not multiples of 160000/7

Thats makes sense - Thanks very much
Why is a spreadsheet needed to do what bibblebub recommends?

The logic is sound, so all that is necessary is to divide 160,000 by seven and multiply the answer by 2 and 4. You can do it in your head or, (if you really must) use a calculator. (£22,857, £45,714 and £91,429 ignoring the pennies).
