Does anybody know the cheapest way of transferring money from a French account to an account in Jersey? I wouldn't think Jersey would be considered any differently to another place in UK but mentioned it just in case.

Can you give us some idea of the amount involved, please?

If you're simply trying to move, say, £100 it would almost certainly be cheapest just to transfer the money from one party to the other via Paypal. However if you want to transfer the proceeds of a house sale you'll probably need to use a more formal inter-bank method.

BTW:
You'll upset the residents of Jersey if you write things like "I wouldn't think Jersey would be considered any differently to another place in UK". As they would no doubt tell you, the Channel Islands are proudly independent and most definitely NOT in the UK!

Thanks for your reply. It's only a couple of thousands and both accounts are in my name. I'm not sure what fee I'd need to pay if I go through my French bank.
The reason i mentioned Jersey was only if being off-shore that would be different but somehow don't think that should make a difference. I know it's part of the British Isles and not in the UK so no way wanted to offend!!!
I've never used Paypal so don't know how that works...
You can't transfer more than about £1500 by paypal because of money laundering regulations so your best bet is by international credit transfer. You can transfer that amount in one go so it will cost no more than £20 for the lot. Unless you have online banking facilities with your French account you will have to do it 'manually' at your bank. There could be a lot of red tape...
