I just had a horrible thought...... Did they do this in the budget with the intention of getting pensioners to p*ss off somewhere else????!!!!!!
I don't think any MP has a clue about what the average person on the street goes through trying to get by in life!
i heard on radio 4 this morning that petition has been started on the internet for parliament to rescnd this bit of the budget does anyone know how i could sign up to this ?

Bob - Type in Google (or whatever you use) "Maintain the pensioners age related allowance - sign the e petition". Click on it and the petition comes up. I'll be signing it on behalf of my Dad.

Frankie - they want all pensioners to b*gger off and die !!!!!
not all pensiors got the £5 pound increase it is pro rata on the the married womans pesion- about £3 , thanks Georgie Boy
How can you detest one politician? THEY'RE ALL THE SAME.
I didn't get a £5 increase............as a taxpayer I got a £4 increase
Hi Craft1948

You want to count yourself lucky.
When I get my state pension I will be paying more in tax than my total state pension.
The over 65s won't lose anything until April 2013.

The current tax allowance, (2011-2012) for the over 65s is £9940.00. It will increase to £10500 in April 2012 for the next financial year (2012-2013). The "loss" will occur when they they get their index linked pension increase in April 2013. Their tax allowance will not increase by proportion to offset this increase therefore they will pay 20% income tax on the whole of the pension increase.

Someone on the state pension won't pay any tax but someone with a private pension on top of the state pension, totalling over £10500.00, will pay more than they otherwise would have had their tax allowances risen in line with inflation.

There is an e-petiton asking the Chancellor to think again on this matter. You can sign it here:-

You don't have to be a pensioner to sign this petition but remember, you will be a pensioner one day.

Dodger - I've signed it on behalf of my Dad and when I did I saw that they had only 300 or so signatures, now I see it is in the thousands - brill !!!

Like you say, we'll all be pensioners one day.
