To be accepted by a trade body, we have lots of things to provide including an environmental policy.

We submitted it ages ago and they said it was fine except missing a bit.

"2. Copy of revised Environmental policy with reference to Corporate Social Responsibility policy".

I asked what it meant but didn't really understand. Can anyone help?

I assume it means they want a revised copy of your Environmental Policy which makes reference to the connection with your Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.

Yes, that's right but I don't really understand the CSR bit. Can I just copy another companies CSR bit and is a short paragrah enough or does it need to go into deep details.

I hate all this stuff!
you cant copy another companies CSR policy as this will not reflect your own companies position. Read other peoples as a guide to the type of information required and the areas coverd by social responsibility and then create your own policy based on your companies activities in this area. The depth of information required may depend on the type of company you are working for and the requirements of the trade body who are asking.
and that should be company's and not companies unless you work for more than one!!
What a load of pointless red tape. I wonder how many wastes of space that load of rubbish keeps in employment. Can you imagine Chinese businesses having to submit such pointless rubbish. No wonder we cant compete.
when dealing with responsible companies in the West, Chines companies do need to submit "such pointless rubbish"

Thanks. I may well do that.
Environmental policy can indeed be a minefield. Better to hand those responsibilities on to a specialist consultant or management company if at all possible. Examples include http://www.clarity.eu.com/ , http://www.letsrecycle.com
