I have been in receipt of Incapacity Benefit and DLA for some years now and am thinking of letting my ex-husband move back into the family home. He is Self Employed so will this affect my IB?

Neither IB nor DLA are means tested (IB is to a very limited point but doesn't apply to your question).
If you are not in receipt of any means tested benefits such as housing benefit, council tax benefit, then you will not lose any income except the 25% discount council tax allowance for single occupants.
mind you I have been receiving DLA for about 12 years now and at that time they told me I would receive it indefinitely - I received new form from last week (they say to up date) so I dont whether I will get it back or not. hope so!!!!!
No benefit is for life, I'm afraid. Unless it's an annuity pension.
My husband was getting DLA for over 12 months and was told that he had to fill out another form, a doctor was sent out to assess him, the doctor put that he could walk a lot further than he can, and he lost his DLA we went to appeal and was still denied it.
The organisation that represented us at the appeal said that they had taken the doctors word against ours and the only next step would be to say that the doctor or the panel had acted unlawfully, that is a pretty big accusation, nobody was saying it was unlawful but possible a mistake.
